Welcome to Gilded Ox Suites! My journey into creating this space is deeply rooted in my work as an interior designer and a profound love for restoring historic buildings.

When I began working on this beautiful 1899 property in the heart of Deventer—historically known as De Vergulde Ossen—my primary goal was to honor its rich heritage. The building's authentic elements, from the high ceilings and original panel doors to the graceful windows and characteristic staircase, provided a stunning architectural foundation. For me, restoration is not just about preserving the past; it is about respecting these historical narratives while introducing modern comfort and timeless quality.

The interior design of Gilded Ox Suites is guided by a concept I call "Intimate Opulence". I wanted to step away from standard aesthetics and instead craft a truly sensory experience using deep, warm colors like chocolate brown and amber, paired with rich, tactile materials such as dark wood, velvet, and brass details. Every design choice has been carefully considered to balance luxury with tranquility. This meant optimizing spatial flow rather than relying on traditional bulky furniture, and meticulously selecting the perfect fabrics to harmonize with the rooms' bold palettes.

I believe that true luxury lies in the experience rather than just material possession. It's about creating meaningful moments and spaces that inspire, surprise, and allow you to connect with the city's culture. My vision was to craft an environment that feels exceptionally welcoming and refined, ensuring your stay in Deventer is unforgettable.
